My goal is to instill my passion for making music with the horn in others. I believe every student has their own voice on the horn, and my role is to help them find and refine it through a combination of fundamentals, method books, and repertoire. I assign these based on the skill level and readiness of each student. I am also happy to help students improve upon any music they are working on for their school or local youth ensembles, or prepare for any all-state competitions or college auditions.
All students must:
-Practice their assigned materials daily.
Beginners: 15 minutes/day
Middle/High School Students: 30 minutes/day
Advanced High School Students: 45-60 minutes/day
-Keep a notebook to help both me and them to keep track of their assignments for each week, and also to use as a practice journal to write down any observations they may have in their practice
-Come to lessons with all necessary books/materials. I am willing to help obtain any materials needed, but the student is still responsible for the purchasing of any said materials.
-Come to their lessons on time and with a positive, respectful, and focused attitude.
-Practice sufficiently and to come to their lessons prepared with the notes learned and having listened to any applicable recordings, so that we can delve deeper into the music together.
-Properly care for their horns. I am more than willing to teach them how to do so, and help them obtain any maintenance supplies needed.
Students are expected to attend lessons at their given weekly time all weeks that lessons are scheduled for. Weeks off will coincide with student’s breaks (ex. no lessons during holiday/spring breaks). If an excusable conflict arises, the lesson will be rescheduled to a different time that same week, if possible. Excusable conflicts are:
- Sickness
- Family emergency
- Doctor's appointment (I must know about it at least 2 weeks in advance)
- School/extra-curricular commitment (I must know about it at least 2 weeks in advance)
- Family/Religious event (I must know about it at least 2 weeks in advance)
My lesson rates are as follows:
$35 - 30 minutes
$50 - 45 minutes
$60 - 60 minutes
Payment is due at the beginning of each lesson. I am also open to setting up payment plans for the month or the semester. Cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal accepted.
